What is the Reconnection Vision?
The Reconnection Vision (RV) is a societal shift guide and toolkit that sees all Yukon people living as whole people and in good relationship with ourselves, each other and the Land. It is a youth-led movement grounded in Yukon First Nations knowledge, values, and ways of being, created to guide a long-term path toward renewed relationships with the Land, water, animals, and each other in the spirit of wholeness. Yukon First Nations have a long history of working together to define their path forward. This work continues to shape how we live today. Now, a new generation is stepping forward to lead another shift. The Re- connection Vision responds to the impacts of dis- connection caused by colonial systems and seeks to restore balance through culture, community, and collective responsibility. What began as a climate action plan has evolved into a societal shift framework, rooted in story, ceremony, and lived experience rather than conventional policy approaches.
Our story so far
The RV was released in June 2023 and is endorsed by Yukon First Nations as the unified approach to climate action in the region. Implementation of the RV is currently led by members of the former Yukon First Nations Climate Action Fellowship Steering Committee and Fellows.
We aspire to seed a movement, where Yukon people understand the philosophical worldview of the RV, are able to identify the norms of disconnection and gain volition and agency to become whole people in their everyday life. To achieve this, we must first do our best to live true to the seeds and philosophy of Reconnection today.
In August 2025, we joined MakeWay shared platform, “providing us with a solid foundation to grow, fundraise, and meaningfully share the RV. Over the next year, we will continue to build an organizational structure and culture of wholeness, build a movement through sharing and storytelling, and care for and build our relationships.
We believe RV implementation is a 50-year journey. At this stage, we are working to ensure our core team is strong and able to uphold the virtues of the RV. With this strong foundation, we will continue to share the RV and over the years to come, we aspire to see our Vision come into being.
