Honouring the Leadership of Dak’äläma Jocelyn Joe-Strack
We want to take a moment to acknowledge Dak’äläma Jocelyn Joe-Strack for her visionary leadership and her deep, unwavering dedication to the Reconnection Vision.
She has been with Reconnection Vision since the very beginning in 2018, playing a pivotal role in shaping the initiative from its earliest roots guiding the development of the Yukon First Nations Climate Action Fellowship and leading the very first cohort of Fellows as mentor and Auntie. From those formative years onward, Jocelyn nurtured the core philosophy, Seeds, and teachings that would later become the Reconnection Vision. Her mentorship, scientific lens, cultural grounding, and ability to uplift young Indigenous leaders were foundational to the emergence and strength of this work today.
Her leadership in the Yukon’s climate community grew from that deep place of purpose. Directed by the Chiefs, she embraced a powerful truth: our young people needed to lead climate action. From there, she expanded her work as a teacher, one who nurtures through story, listening, knowledge, and belief.
Jocelyn has transformed conversations on climate change, shifting them from purely technical frames to deeply human, cultural, and societal ones. She reminds us that climate change is ultimately a story about disconnection from spirit, from emotion, from community, and from Earth’s rhythms. And she invites us back into alignment, back into balance, back into wholeness.
As an Indigenous storyteller, scientist, leader, and knowledge keeper, Jocelyn has been an incredible mentor and Auntie to all the Fellows and youth involved guiding with generosity, fierceness, humour, and love. Her imprint on the Reconnection Vision is woven gently and powerfully through every Seed, every ceremony, and every teaching.
As Jocelyn steps away from her formal role within Reconnection Vision, we honour her profound contributions and the foundation she helped build. Her departure marks the end of a significant chapter, but the movement she shaped and the young leaders she empowered will continue to flourish because of her guidance.
Shä̀w níthän, Dak’äläma, for leading the way with your big heart!
We honour you. We celebrate you!
Welcoming New Executive Director
We are thrilled to welcome Lasänma-Katie Johnson as the new Director of Reconnection Vision.
Katie is a proud member of the Agünda (Wolf) Clan and a citizen of Kluane First Nation. With more than two decades of experience working with northern peoples, she is a creative visionary dedicated to strengthening Yukon First Nations through community-led initiatives across cultural, social, and economic sectors.
Her work centres partnership, empowerment, and building pathways that reflect Indigenous values and aspirations.
As Director, Katie brings strategic thought leadership, deep relational expertise, and a collaborative approach that will help expand and deepen Reconnection Vision’s impact across Yukon and Northern communities. Her commitment to supporting transformative work aligns naturally with RV’s mission of weaving together community, culture, and climate action.
Rooted in her ancestral homelands, Katie renews her energy through learning her Southern Tutchone teachings and spending time on the land in Ásí Keyi—Kluane country—with her daughter Bella, Elders, family, and community.
We welcome Katie into this new role and look forward to the next chapter of Reconnection Vision under her leadership.
