Jewel Davies - Yekhunashîn - Khatuku

Yekhunashîn yu xhút duwáasakw. My Tlingit name is Yekhunashîn and I am a part of the Dakl’awedi (Eagle/Killer Whale) Clan. I grew up in Teslin and have lived in the Yukon my whole life. I am now in my third year of the Indigenous Governance Bachelor’s Degree Program at the Yukon University. I made the choice to apply for this fellowship because I feel very connected to our land and I am interested in being a part of a group that is Indigenous led, working towards a better future for us and the environment. Indigenous worldviews are incredibly powerful and insightful, and we have a lot to learn from this way of seeing the world.
