Drin hǫzǫ! Shǫzré’ (my name is) Jennifer Mierau. I am part of the crow clan and a member of the Trondek Hwechin (which translates to “The people who live at the mouth of the Klondike”). I have lived in Dawson City for most of my life. This winter I will be studying at YukonU right here in my home community. I am enrolled in the Multi-trades for mining course and will be graduating this upcoming spring. During the summer months, I have been working with a gold exploration company and learning on the job about Geology. In my own time, I have taken a special interest in finding plant medicines, exploring our traditional lands and most recently I taught myself how to grow a garden. I have been continuously building my knowledge by listening to our elders and learning respectful ways to take care of our land, water and animals and also by actively involving myself in cultural activities wherever I can. I’m very thankful to be able to be home to listen and be able to pass down these important stories and teachings for generations to come.
